And so we continue with one of the most intriguing premises I have read in fiction! An elf coming to Japan via a "dream"!The premise is definitely one of my favorites and thought this volume started out really strong! We meet a new race of "creatures" in the fantasy world and I must say, MEWI IS ADORABLE!! So cute and fluffy! I did NOT like how that opening chapter ended though! Why do humans mess things up in fiction? LOL! I also LOVED how Marie was learning Japanese for the opening “real world” chapter! I loved *how* she was learning it and her reasonings of why she was learning it as well. It just made my heart feel all warm and fuzzy because I related to her reasoning of why she wanted to learn Japanese as that is me too. <3I felt once our "couple" returned back to the fantasy world it was slightly…anti-climactic? I don’t feel that’s the right word and feel really bad saying that because I don't think it probably is, but I realized that definitely the highlight of this manga for me is having Marie in Japan. I LOVE their interactions and their real-world adventures because I feel like a little kid being able to explore Japan with Marie in a very real way. However, even with that said, I DID like how we get to see Kazuhiro's power in the fantasy world. Those panels were extremely well drawn and thought the creature he was fighting was actually pretty cute. LOL! You learn a little more about his abilities and what "powers" he has. (The same with Marie too.) I also liked how he really wanted to help Marie level up since it was a slightly sore spot for her. LOL! That probably was my favorite part in the fantasy world! The later part of the book is our couple back in Japan and I ate it up like candy! And speaking of eating, the food in this book is SO good! I really liked how we had a recipe at the back with Kazuhiro having his own chapter in explaining how to make a certain Japanese dish. That made me want to try my hand at making it because the illustrator made it look so easy! (And the mangaka described it so well!) LOL! Lots of yummy looking food and me getting hungry when reading. LOL!I liked the real world trips a lot! I thought the library trip was especially cute and LOVED this line by Kazuhiro: "Why not give it a try? Books actually want to be read, you know?". What a wonderful line and SO true! I am a tad nervous about who we meet at the library and how that could affect the story later on? I don't think I NEED to be concern, but still. Nothing better interfere with the goings of these two sweet characters...Similar to volume one, there is still fan service. While I felt there one scene more extreme than any of the fan service scenes thus far, I really appreciate just how respectful Kazuhiro is. He even bowed and apologized due to what happens and was extremely impressed by that. There may be too much fan service for my liking, but I truly like that Kazuhiro is a good man who respects Marie when she is clueless about her body at first in those incidents.Overall, I enjoyed this volume, though I LOVED the contemporary a lot more than the fantasy world. I do feel a little "proud" in that this really *is* my first isekai as this has been a good experience in this genre. I am on the fence of picking up the next volume just because I want more contemporary and less fantasy. LOL! I'll definitely be curious to see what the next volume is about though!
