Sadly disappointing. I have read all of this author's previous works. About half way into this story I was struck by how darned repetitious it was. Restating conversations that were previously had after the characters had internalized the same thoughts two or three times before the first conversation. Reminded me of a student trying to fulfill a "so many word" essay assignment. Yadda Yadda yadda. This is definitely going to have spoilers in it so if you dont want to know anything please move on. Dont want to ruin it for you............The whole brother dynamic really grated on my nerves. And why does she have to be another martyr for the wrong reasons. It's like she is an immature teenager with all the whinging. And over and over again with the same damn conversation. We get it you dont want to put a wedge in your family but because you didnt do anything it came out much worse that if you would have let out your 'secret'.Im sorry I dont think having a gambling problem is her secret, and this crap of not telling her brother, even though they are so close, is such a lame excuse too. That would have been a huge wedge between the team but she didnt seem to care so much about that.This whole series has been a mix of hit and miss. There are parts I really like but there are huge parts what make me roll my eyes and want to slam the book shut. But again there were parts that I really liked. But the pets thing felt like it was thrown in as an after thought to get them together.It was weird to me who she has resisted him for months, he gets animals and bam they are together and banging like drums in a heavy metal band. I just couldn't get into.After all that is said this could totally be up your alley and you may love it! Dont take one person's opinion for not trying this book. You may love it, Susan's book are still my favorite even if I dont like one or 2 here and there. Over all her books are amazing.
